How to Enjoy Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry sauce is known as the perfect side dish for your holiday meals, it compliments foods like stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans etc but it’s also great for dessert!
During the holidays I like to have cranberry sauce paired with my homemade whipped cream, it’s a simple dessert but so yummy and healthy too!
It also used in my creamy cranberry orange cheesecake, which is one of my favorite seasonal/holiday desserts on the planet!
Why you Cranberries are SO good for you
I never knew just how nutritional cranberries were until recent years. Commonly known to help with UTIs, they are very beneficial for bladder health but so much more!

It’s great to have cranberries during Fall and Winter months as they are great for respiratory health. This important boost as the weather shifts and we enter cold and flu season.
Homemade Cranberry Sauce (refined sugar free)
Ingredients
- 16 oz cranberries
- 1 orange, juiced and zested
- 1 1/2 cup filtered water
- 1/3-1/2 cup maple syrup depending on how sweet you like it, I like mine on the tart side
- 1 1/2 cinnamon sticks
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
Instructions
- Place all ingredients into a pot and cover with an airtight lid and bring to a boil (you’ll hear the cranberries begin to pop) then remove lid and bring down to a simmer.
- Stirring occasionally as you go for 20-30 minutes until it cooks down and forms a compote like texture.
- Remove cinnamon sticks.
- Allow to cool completely to room temperature then chill in the fridge.
- Refrigerate overnight or few a few days prior to serving for best results.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 10 days. Enjoy!
