These crispy turmeric potato chips are baked- not fried, packed with flavor, nutrition and perfectly crispy!
Turmeric is one of my favorite spices, it has a beautiful earthy depth or flavor but is also incredibly medicinal. It is known for it’s anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits from it’s main active ingredient, curcumin.
Turmeric has been used in Indian cuisine for thousands of years. It’s a versatile spice and something I try to incorporate into my diet as much as I can!
HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT CRISPY BAKED CHIPS:
These are so easy to make and have the perfect crisp without being fried.
First, I recommend thinly slicing these potatoes with a mandoline slicer. This allows precision on each slice so they can all be the same exact width and all bake evenly.
With a mandoline, it allows you to slice things paper thin, for these potato chips, I recommend slicing them about 1/8 of an inch thick.
Use the attachment to make sure you keep your fingers protected when slicing as it is very sharp. It allows you to slice onions etcetera extra thin making it one of my favorite kitchen tools!
You can also use a sharp knife to cut them as precise as possible, either way they will be delicious!
Once you slice your potatoes, toss them with avocado oil (a healthy neutral tasting oil that cooks safely at a high smoke point), spices and sea salt.
My secret ingredient for this recipe is adding a little maple syrup. This is optional as the recipe is still great but a little sweetness pairs really well with the potatoes and the turmeric.
If you ever had McDonalds fries or other fast food fries and wonder they are so good, a lot of them add some form of sugar. This is a healthier unrefined sugar that helps to bring out the sweetness in the potatoes!
These chips pair perfectly with my vegan beet tzatziki dip, for a healthier chips and dip for an occasion!
