This tangerine dreamsicle ice cream is made with only 4 simple ingredients and no ice cream machine required!
If you follow me and the blog already or have made some of my ice cream recipes before, you know I love healthy fruit ice cream!
If you’ve seen people making one ingredient tangerine or mandarin ice cream recently on the Internet, this version takes it to the next level! Just by adding just a few dairy free ingredients it makes it so creamy and delicious!
The first bite I took when I made this ice cream I felt like I was immediately slingshotted back to a summer day as a kid!
This ice cream reminds me SO MUCH of the orange sherbet that I had growing up. If you ever had a push pop ice cream, this tastes exactly like that, but uses such minimal and healthy ingredients! It’s incredible!
To get the creamy dreamsicle element to this recipe, I use vegan sweetened condensed milk and a little bit of dairy free milk.
This not only gives it an amazing and luxurious texture, but really enhances the flavor.
I always like to have some of this dairy free condensed milk on hand, because it brings such an incredible element to dairy free recipes and makes healthy ice cream so creamy!
What you need to make Tangerine Dreamsicle Ice Cream
-
tangerines aka mandarins (cuties are great in this recipe- make sure they are seedless)
-
dairy free sweetened condensed milk
-
dairy free milk (I used Malk almond milk but oat, coconut etc would all work well here)
-
vanilla extract or 1/4 of vanilla bean
How to Properly Peel and Freeze the Tangerines:
Step 1: Cut the tangerines in half.
Step 2: Use two hands to open each tangerine half up to easily remove the tangerine pieces.
Step 3: Place them all into a large airtight glass bowl and freeze for about 6 hours or overnight.
Step 4: Once ready to make the ice cream, let them thaw for about 10 minutes to easily break apart with a spoon or fork.
The texture of this ice cream is really amazing and you don’t need an ice cream maker to make it!
All you have to do is add all your ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
How to Make No Churn Ice Cream
I use my vitamix for this tangerine dreamsicle ice cream (as well as my other fruit ice cream recipes). This vitamix is a high speed blender which makes it easier but you can make in any blender or food processor.
Then my secret ingredient is adding a little bit of vanilla extract or vanilla bean to this recipe. Combining vanilla with a tangerine/orange flavor just really enhances and compliments it so well!

FAQs
Can this tangerine dreamscape ice cream be made without any coconut?
Yes! This recipe can fact be made without any coconut products. Use this oat sweetened condensed milk and add in a plant milk of choice like oat or almond milk, etc.
Do I have to eat it right away or can I store it in the freezer?
You can definitely enjoy right away if you want, the texture is thick and creamy. If you have leftovers (which is always do unless serving a lot of people) I store in a swallow airtight container in the freezer.
Thaw for about 5-10 minutes before scooping. Keeps in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

Thank you! Does it have to be “dairy free” sweetened condensed milk?
Justine Colbert
Only if you are vegan and/or dairy free. If not, any sweetened condensed milk will work in the recipe 🙂
