This sweet and savory tahini sauce and dressing and is vegan, gluten free and soy free and one of my absolute favorites!
It’s creamy, sweet and savory…hence the name! I’ve been making it for years to dip things like spring and summer rolls, vegan sushi recipe and as a flavorful salad dressing or on noodles!
The main ingredient is tahini, which is made of sesame seeds and is a wonderful source of plant based calcium and protein.
Not only is this sauce in incredibly delicious (I mean, I’ve eaten it by the spoonful before) but it helps boost the immune system and is packed with extra minerals our bodies need!
What Ingredients are used to make this Sweet and Savory Tahini Dressing:
Tahini
Lime Juice
Coconut Aminos (my favorite secret ingredient, think soy free & gluten free soy sauce but with a sweeter flavor and no extra salt needed)
Filtered Water
Maple Syrup
Cilantro
Ginger (fresh is best in this recipe)
Dulse Flakes (my favorite seaweed, also a wonderful alternative to salt, it’s packed with minerals. This brings so much extra nutritional to this including one of the ONLY plant based foods with naturally occurring B12 and B vitamins!)
Cayenne or Jalapeño
What I love about the ingredients in this, is that most of them are versatile pantry items that are useful in many recipes!
What you need to make this recipe:
The beauty of this recipe is how easy it is to make and you can double the batch and keep in the fridge for the week if you want!
You just all ingredients to a personal blender.
I highly recommend the magic bullet, it’s been my go to for years to make sauces and dressings in minutes that perfectly smooth and extra creamy!
The other kitchen tool I use a lot and for this recipe is a Microplane. I use this to grate perfectly grate the fresh ginger which makes this dressing so flavorful and is wonderful for digestion, immunity and respiratory and sinus health.
Ginger can help improve appetite by invigorating the digestive system and is also a wonderful remedy to help relieve nausea.
A Completely Oil Free Dressing/Sauce
Since this recipe is made with tahini and maple syrup, you don’t need to add any oil to it!
These two whole food plant based ingredients are wonderful substitutes to oil, especially in a salad dressing.
This sweet and savory tahini sauce pairs perfectly with my Crispy Rice Paper Rainbow Onigirazu aka sushi sandwiches!
