This hummus is not only aesthetically pleasing and unique but it tastes amazing! I love eating different types of hummus but I always felt my heart was with a traditional classic Middle Eastern hummus, like this one! After making this black hummus, it's now a tie between the two because I've never quite experienced these flavors in a dip!
The "secret" ingredient in this hummus is using black tahini which is made of 100% black sesame seeds! Black sesame seeds are packed with nutrition, similar to normal sesame seeds. They are incredibly high in calcium, fiber and protein, great for bone health, lowering cholesterol, and prevents diabetes and cancer. Truly the health benefits go on! Black tahini has a slightly richer flavor and almost has a peanut flavor (without the peanuts!) Combining ingredients used in Asian cuisine really brings out the flavor in the tahini!
